Tartare del Pellegrino

La Tartare del Pellegrino

Scampi and scallop tartare, but for us it is the Tartare del Pellegrino.

Yes, because in ancient times Masseria La Millenaria, the magical place that hosts our restaurant Piazza del Forte, was a monastery of Basilian monks, and was an important stop on the path of pilgrims who, crossing Salento, set sail to reach Jerusalem, the Holy Land, with the intent of atoning for their sins and purifying their souls.

To identify themselves as devout and obtain a sort of pass (the passport of the “Cammino”) in the places of welcome, the pilgrim showed a shell, the symbol of the sacred path…

In honor of the mystical and millenary place that hosts our restaurant, we wanted to dedicate this very delicate tartare, calling it Tartare del Pellegrino.

Served to our guests in its original shell, with the hope that its taste and the environment that surrounds you, during dinners at Piazza del Forte, will take you back in time…
